Every one of our members has their own reason for joining the union, but they all receive all the benefits, help and support we can offer. UNISON members have the strength, knowledge and commitment of their UNISON colleagues around them. We provide advice, support and assistance in the workplace.
Our teams of advisers, legal experts, trained representatives and experienced negotiators will provide you with help at work when you need it most.
But our support doesn’t just end when members leave the workplace. UNISON is there for members and their families outside work too.
- advice, support and help when you need it at work;
- a helpline that is open until midnight (on weekdays, 4pm Saturday);
- legal help for you at work and you and your family at home;
- financial assistance and debt advice in times of need;
- compensation for accidents and injuries at work;
- a range of exclusive member discounts that can save you and your family money when you are shopping, buying insurance or looking for a holiday;
- access to training and education courses;
- a members magazine sent to your home address four times a year;
- discounts for members and their families at Croyde Bay, the union’s holiday resort on the north Devon coast.
To be eligible for our legal assistance scheme, you must have been a member for at least four weeks prior to the incident that led you to seek that assistance. You must also be up to date with your subscriptions.
Legal help is provided at the discretion of the union’s national executive council.
UNISON members can get free legal advice and help with work-related issues. Our help covers issues like unfair dismissal, accidents and injuries at work.
For you and your family
UNISON members can access free initial legal advice on non-work related issues, along with support for members and their family members for personal injury cases outside work, a free wills service for you and for your partner if you have mirror wills, low-cost conveyancing and help with immigration issues.
